Two European reports were released this year recognizing Vancouver as an emerging global maritime hub.
The Leading Maritime Capitals of the World report by Menon Economics is the shipping world’s main reference for benchmarking maritime cities. It recognized Vancouver’s potential to be a global maritime centre due to the strong governmental support for its maritime industry.
In Deloitte’s EU Shipping Competitiveness Study, Vancouver was named as one of five leading international shipping centres that is challenging the longer-term competitiveness of Europe as a centre for shipping. Deloitte also mentions the work of the Vancouver International Maritime Centre, which seeks to attract international maritime firms to B.C.
