The ABCMI Forum took place last Friday, May 5th. It was held at the BCIT Marine Campus in North Vancouver.
We heard from six speakers on various topics relevant to the industrial marine sector.
Mark Collins, President and CEO of BC Ferries, spoke on the new BC Ferries vessels, LNG, and future projects.
Ryan Nicoll of Dynamic Systems Analysis presented on the tidal turbine that was installed in the Bay of Fundy last year.
Michelle Sanders from Transport Canada spoke on underwater vessel noise and its impact on the southern resident whale.
Ian Brennan of Seaspan Shipyards spoke on supplier opportunities arising from the National Shipbuilding Strategy.
Alex Rueben, Executive Director of the Industrial Marine Training and Applied Research Centre, presented on the BC Supplier Development Program Pilot.
Jon Mikkelsen, Professor of Teaching and Director of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at UBC, co-presented with Dr. Jasmin Jelovica on new trends in shipbuilding.
